The USFSP Faculty Governance document, which was approved in April 2002, established a formal shared governance structure that would enable all campus constituencies to participate in campus decision making processes.
The Faculty Senate of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg is the principal academic advisory body to the Regional Chancellor and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. The Faculty Senate makes recommendations pertaining to the operations and welfare of the University, particularly those pertaining to the academic mission of the University. The Faculty Senate operates according to the principles of shared governance and serves as the main channel of communication between the faculty and the administration of USF St. Petersburg.
