The USFSP Anthropology Club is a student organized and governed club that invites the participation of Anthropology majors and non-majors, who are interested in creating and attending events surrounding the biological, cultural, archaeological, and linguistic studies of humans in the past and the present.

 

CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Fri. April 11, 3:30, CAC 133. Lecture on Public Archaeology.

Wed. April 9, 2-3, Davis 251. Anthropologist Eben Kirksey, who has recently returned from fieldwork in West Papua New Guinea, will talk to the class about his work. "Freedom in Entangled Worlds: Lived Experience of Possibility in West Papua."

Sat. March 8: Ybor City tour please contact Philip Berneir the Anthropology Club president for reservation.

Wed. Feb. 27: Davis 251, 2-3pm Prof Antoinette Jackson on Oral History and African American Heritage in Tampa and will discuss her field school this summer on that subject. Refreshments will be served!

Wed. Jan. 23: DAVIS 251, 4:30-5:30. Introductory Spring Meeting- gathering to meet one another and decide field trips and guest speakers for the coming semester. Food and Drinks will be provided!

 

 

Wed. Oct. 25: CAC 133, 12:30-1:30. Dr. J. Arthur & Dr. K. Arthur discuss opportunities to participate in their 2008 Fieldschool in Ethiopia. See the following website for qualification and application to the fieldschool: http://www.stpt.usf.edu/coas/anthropology/FieldSchools.htm

Wed. Oct. 18: 7 pm Weedon Island Cultural and Natural History Center: the Central Gulf Coast Archaeological Society presents Ms. Theresa Schober, Director, Cultural & Environmental Learning Center, Fort Myers Beach who will discuss her recent excavations at the Estero Island site, a large shell midden in Lee County. Admission is free.
