The Candidate Application Committee will serve as an advisory group to the candidate in the assembly of the tenure and/or promotion application. The chair of the committee will coordinate the activities of the group to insure that all necessary materials are collected and that the appropriate deadlines are met. The Candidate Application Committee will review the candidate's nominations for external reviewers and will suggest additions/modifications to this list. The Committee will then provide the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences with its recommendations for at least six external reviewers. The three members will each be assigned a separate section of the application – research, teaching, and service. These individuals should guide the applicant as to appropriate supporting documentation that will accurately represent the person's record. Following the completion of the application, each member will write a summary of the candidate's accomplishments in each area. This should not include recommendations for or against tenure/promotion, but rather just an evaluative statement regarding the evidence provided. The chair of the Candidate Application Committee and any other members who desire to attend will present the report of the case to the College of Arts & Sciences College Council Tenure and Promotion Faculty Advisory Committee. The purpose of this presentation will be to provide the Tenure and Promotion Faculty Advisory Committee with information about the case and an opportunity to clarify any information. At times the Tenure and Promotion Faculty Advisory Committee may request additional supporting information. The members of the Candidate Application Committee will not be present during the formal deliberations of the Tenure and Promotion Faculty Advisory Committee nor will they vote on the outcome of the case. |
