Program Description

As a program, The Department of English at USF St. Petersburg will continue to service students in the three traditional English studies tracks; however, these three separate tracks will be deeply interactive.

Students in each of the three areas (Literature, Rhetoric & Composition, and Professional & Technical Writing) will pursue a course of study with certain core requirements, which will allow them to focus in their area of interest.

In addition to these requirements, our students will be encouraged to take courses outside of their specialty that relate to their particular research and professional goals.

The development of our Special Programs will be one of the most important venues for maintaining the balance between the area studies focus and intra-disciplinary interconnectivity.

Both tenured and non-tenured faculty will be encouraged to collaborate with colleagues on special programs courses that are relevant to students in all three tracks, and to develop scholarly research projects that are similarly collaborative.
