Area Description

The City of St Pete Beach is a barrier island community off the Gulf of Mexico and just off the coast of Pinellas County, Florida. The length of the city is approximately 6 miles with 4.5 miles of beach. The city is a significant tourist destination, particularly in late winter months.

The City of St Pete Beach is included in the metropolitan area of Tampa Bay, with a population of close to 4 million people. There is a wide range of recreational activities including recreational choices of kayaking, beaching, birding, fishing, boating, and golf. A major league baseball team, the Tampa Bay Rays, whose home is only four miles from the conference site may be playing during the visit. A wide variety of arts and cultural activities/venues are nearby in addition to shopping areas and excellent restaurants.

The Sarasota-Bradenton area is just south of St Pete Beach and Orlando is approximately two hours driving distance.
