The inaugural Harbor Celebration took place on April 12, 2006 and was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who came out to support this event! Harbor Day Activities
Why is this important? Bayboro Harbor has been designated an Outstanding Florida Water and is a recognized manatee habitat area. It is a distinctive feature of our campus and the USF College of Marine Science, and its shore is home to organizations such as the Tampa Bay Estuary Program, the Southeast Regional Office of NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service, and the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute. It is the endpoint for much of the City of St. Petersburg watershed and storm water drainage system. The result is an accumulation of litter and other pollutants that contaminate our waters, endanger wildlife, and tarnishes the beauty of our Harbor. As a community we can work together to foster an awareness and appreciation for our natural resources, reminding ourselves and others to take individual responsibility for decisions that affect the quality of our coastal ecosystems.
