Studying foreign languages and cultures is not only a university requirement, it’s a life requirement. Learning foreign languages opens new doors. When you know several languages, you are in a better place in our global world. You are competitive in the national and international job market, you are ready to travel and explore, you make lifelong friendships abroad or at home, you are intellectually curious, you understand our world and its cultures better, you are part of it.
The World Languages Program:
- offers classes to satisfy the language requirement and a Minor in Spanish and French.
- conducts and encourages research, scholarship and creative work in modern languages and literatures.
- encourages study and research abroad. For information regarding these programs visit the the office of International Affairs.
- encourages extra-curricular cultural activities (language clubs, Bay Area events).
