Vision
The College of Education at USF St. Petersburg…
- commits itself to leadership in education, research, and outreach on behalf of the people and communities it serves;
- will move aggressively and strategically to enhance existing academic programs and anticipate and address future needs by developing new initiatives determined by community-based educational priorities;
- aspires to be locally, regionally, and nationally recognized for the quality of its undergraduate and graduate degree programs and for the impact of its programs’ graduates on student learning;
- is committed to offering authentic, engaging, and problem-based teaching that addresses the changing conditions in education within a caring, personal, and service-oriented environment;
- is committed to creating collaboratively-designed programs and clinical experiences that strengthen its relationship with the communities it serves;
- is committed to a curriculum grounded in research, particularly community-based research, which informs and strengthens teaching and leadership in education;
- is committed to maintaining a learning community of faculty and students that values diversity of background, experience, perspective, practice, and scholarship; and
- aspires to establish an environment of inclusive, democratic, ethical behavior that permeates the professional lives of its faculty and is transmitted to the educators that it prepares.
Mission
The College of Education at USF St. Petersburg offers graduate and undergraduate degree programs recognized for accomplishing defined learning outcomes, supported by a foundation of applied research, and committed to meeting the needs of the community and the students it serves. In pursuit of this mission, faculty in the College of Education are guided by a respect for evidence, creating and extending knowledge by supporting research, and by the pursuit of scholarship. The College of Education seeks to prepare exemplary teachers and other educational personnel for roles in a diverse and changing society. It promotes life long learning, is committed to stewardship that reflects the ethics of community responsibility, and continually strives to meet the educational needs of all learners.
