The research team will identify study participants through the 15 neighborhood associations in south Pinellas County; through other community-based organizations such as The Friends of Boyd Hill, the Lakewood United Church of Christ, the Church of the Latter-Day Saints, Trinity Catholic Church, Pinellas Point Community Church, the United Methodist Cooperative Ministries, the St. Petersburg Free Clinic and the Bay Point Little League and Lakewood Southside Soccer community organizations. All of these groups provide regular, community based meetings of residents from the target neighborhoods. Contacts have already been established with the majority of these organizations to build relationships through which participants can be identified. Participants will also be identified using the County’s list of Florida Certified Yards and a comprehensive door-to-door survey. The sample population will be stratified by ethnicity, age, gender and income.
