The Mission of Student Disability Services It is the mission of Student Disability Services to create and maintain an environment on the University campus that is supportive to students with special needs and will grant the kind of academic accommodations to students with documented disabilities that will provide them an equal chance of academic success. USF St. Petersburg is an exciting, welcoming, supporting environment where students with disabilities are recognized and valued. Faculty and staff work hard so students with disabilities can take part in all aspects of University life to the greatest extent possible. A campus that is naturally suited to the needs of the disabled provides a beautiful backdrop against which students of all kinds can learn and meet others. The Campus USF St. Petersburg, located on Bayboro Harbor in downtown St. Petersburg, is architecturally friendly for students with disabilities. Accessible classroom and library buildings set close to each other are ideal for those with even the most severe handicaps. Covered walkways connecting most buildings keep you dry and in the shade. Mild climate and flat terrain make traveling around campus easy and comfortable all year round. Nearby medical, shopping and entertainment facilities offer the opportunity to reach your educational goals in an atmosphere conducive to the development of independence and self-reliance. Contact information for the Student Disability Office is (727) 873-4990 or 873-4837. Office hours: Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Campus tours Campus tours are available by appointment. To request disability-related assistance call (727) 873-4837 five working days in advance of your intended visit. Contact the campus recruiter at (727) 873-4002 to arrange a tour. Admission The University of South Florida St. Petersburg does not have special admission programs for students with disabilities and does not make pre-admission inquiries regarding disabilities. If you do not meet minimum admission requirements, you may request special consideration based on your disability and any extenuating circumstances. Submit documentation supporting your disability and its relationship to your inability to satisfy requirements at the time you apply for admission. |
