USF St. Petersburg is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award degrees at the baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral levels. Learning Outcomes for General Education
General Education at USFSP includes seven areas: English Composition, Quantitative Methods, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Historical Perspectives, Fine Arts, and ALAMEA. Also included in the GE are exit courses in: Major Works and Issues as well as in Literature and Writing. Learning Outcomes for each of the GE areas drive the assessment activity.

Course Offerings in General Education
A spreadsheet of courses offered was developed that showed some 122 courses in the GE each semester. An analysis by fall and spring semesters dating to 05-06 showed an interesting pattern in offerings that will assist the GE Committee in their deliberations this year.

General Education Committee
Representatives of the GE Committee at USFSP worked with respective colleagues at USF to develop an articulation agreement between instutitons regarding the transferability of general education coursework. This agreement is important because the institutions have uniquely different general education requirements and the student transfer rate between institutions is relatively high.
