The O.B. Mclin African American Community History Project.

This project was developed through grants from the Florida Humanities Council, the City of St. Petersburg, The St. Petersburg Times and the Pinellas County School Board. Our project created an electronic African American Community History Archive through one of the nations largest web sites dealing with local African American Culture and History (www.nelson.usf.edu/mclin) as well as producing a three-volume CD-ROM called "Bus to Destiny. This work has involved conducting ethnographic work in south St. Petersburg, including gathering life histories and filming of community events and ritual. Research has involved conducting ethnographic studies in south St. Petersburg, including gathering life histories and filming of community events and ritual. We are planning to expand the project into a DVD Learning tool for the Pinellas County School Board to fulfill its mandate to teach about African American History.
