Dr. Martin Luther King

" The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. You may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. You may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate, nor establish love. Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

19th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King "Drum Major for Justice" Parade Set For Jan. 19th

Mark your calendars for Monday, January 19, 2004! The 19th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King "Drum Major for Justice" Parade will be held in downtown St. Petersburg. USF St. Petersburg participates in the Parade each year by presenting a colorful contingent of walkers, golf carts, Oasis van--and cars featuring our campus CEO and Student Goverment president. USF green, gold and white is featured prominently!

The Parade generally runs from 1:15 - 4:30 p.m. and is the largest Parade in the country on that day. During the Parade, we distribute wrapped candy to those lined up along the Parade route.

There is also a community Breakfast before the Parade at the Hilton Hotel. Ticket information will follow shortly.

Those unable to participate in either the Breakfast or the Parade may wish to make a donation toward candy purchase.

For sign-up, questions and candy donations, contact Dr. Juanita Fountain via campus mail (COQ-200) or voice mail (3-4575)--or any member of the Cultural Diversity Committee.

THANKS for your kind assistance. Happy Holidays!
