"PeopleSoft" Spoken Here! USF St. Petersburg's Purchasing Department recently completed another round of PeopleSoft training for selected St. Petersburg Campus employees. The 12-hour familiarization course taught on campus Oct. 13 through 15 was one in a series of ongoing classes designed to enhance staff understanding and proficiency in using the state-of-the-art, integrated purchasing and financial management system USF recently implemented.
Bill Benjamin, coordinator for USFSP's Purchasing Department, presented the Procure-to-Pay instruction to eight university staff members and the Children's Research Institute's administrative personnel. As the designated PeopleSoft systems trainer for USF St. Petersburg, to date, he has conducted four 12-hour intensive training sessions in St. Petersburg and in Sarasota. Approximately 50 system users attended training on the St. Petersburg Campus. Also planned are monthly follow-on "lessons learned" meetings to which interested purchase requisition initiators and approvers are invited. The intensive hands-on systems training proved invaluable when this highly technical PeopleSoft purchasing system went live USF-wide in July. Benjamin stands ready to augment classroom instruction with one-on-one reinforcement sessions whenever needed. "Just pull up the requisition screen and give me a call at 3-4199 - I'll walk you through your initial encounter difficulties," he said.
