
USF St. Petersburg Hires Research Leader USF St. Petersburg has hired its first research leader in its 39 year history.
Christopher F. D’Elia, PhD, will begin as Assistant Vice
President for Research and Community Partnerships on Sept.
1. Known
for his research on coastal, tropical and subtropical ecology,
D’Elia joins USF St. Petersburg from the University
at Albany, SUNY where he holds a joint appointment as a professor
of biology and public administration and policy. He is developing
new programs in watershed science and policy and in forensic

“How does a court case in 1954 affect
your life today?” Last Friday night more than 200 campus
and community guests filled the Campus Activities Center to hear
Harvard University’s Randall Kennedy talk about the ruling
and his work for U.S. Supreme Court Thurgood Marshall. Kennedy’s lecture covered the
components of the 1954 ruling, chronicling both the legitimacy
the law granted, and the actions that it didn’t prevent.
His thoughtful lecture cautioned the audience not to give too much

donors! There is a critical shortage in this area, with less
than one day's supply of O and B blood types. Please donate
Volunteer at the All Children's Hospital
Telethon, June 5 - 6.
The major fund-raiser for All Children's Hospital is its telethon
which is scheduled for Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6. Volunteers
are needed Saturday evening and all day Sunday. Two jobs are available:
traffic
control (parking) and runner staff (taking pledges to the bookkeepers).
Shifts are 2-3 hours and volunteers must be capable of being on
their feet throughout the shift. Let's get a large USFSP presence
