A new program instituted by Campus Computing will reduce annual
phone costs by more than $300,000 dollars and frees up much needed

Oil Drilling Debate at USF St. Petersburg
The Brown Bag Discussion Group will kick off its three-part energy series
Friday, Dec. 9 at noon at the USGS on campus with Part I: Offshore Drilling. The

Give a Warm Welcome to New Acting Dean
The campus welcomes Blaine A. Brownell, PhD, who has begun his role
as acting Dean of the College of Business. Brownell has an extensive
background in higher education leadership in university roles.

USF Commercial Features Campus
USF St. Petersburg and students from the USFSP Environmental Science and
Policy program were recently featured in a recruitment advertisement for USF.
The commercial will run during halftime on any USF televised sports event.

Three students from USF St. Petersburg will attend the 2005 Florida
Democratic Party Conference this weekend in Orlando. Christina Boltin, Teresa
Prezstocki and Nicole McConnell will travel to the conference held this year at

Make Commencement a Success
Fall 2005 Commencement is Saturday, Dec. 18 at 2 pm. The Office of
Student Affairs is committed to making the event memorable for all
students. For the first time graduation will be held at Tropicana
Field, there are 335 prospective USF St. Petersburg graduates for the
ceremony.

Can You Hear Me Now?: USF researchers test manatee hearing
(Nov. 23, 2005) – Publishing in a recent issue of the Journal of
Comparative Physiology, USF Marine Science professor David Mann, along with
his students and colleagues Gordon Bauer from New College, Roger Reep from the
University of Florida, and Debborah Colbert and Joseph Gaspard from Mote Marine
Laboratory in Sarasota, examined the hearing of manatees to determine the
frequencies to which they best respond.

Partan Interviewed for Discovery News
Sarah Partan, PhD, assistant professor of
psychology at USF St. Petersburg, who recently had her research on was
outlined in a recent issue of the journal Animal Behavior, was
