Commencement, a shining moment in every student’s academic career. USF St.
Petersburg had 211 graduates attend the ceremony to receive their degrees.

USF will play in its first Bowl game at the Meineke Car Care Bowl
against North Carolina State. The game will be played December 31 at 11 am in
Charlotte, NC and it will air on ESPN2.

Longtime Campus Friend Dies
Mrs. Jessamine E. Haney, widow of former USF St. Petersburg
Center administrator and director of student affairs Donald Haney, passed
away on Nov. 19. Born in Denver, Haney and her family were well traveled
due, in part, to Mr. Haney's many years in the military.

Successful Toy Drive for Ambassadors

Due to the overwhelming response and feedback from the recent Multicultural
Feast, the office of Multicultural Affairs will compile recipes for a cookbook
featuring some of the tasty dishes featured at the celebration.

still accepting activity submissions for the month. So far, scheduled events
include a dance show, movies and a gospel extravaganza.

St. Petersburg Times--12/20/2005
Former Ball State University President Blaine A. Brownell, a former
administrator and academic in the fields of history and social sciences, was
named the interim dean of the College of Business at USF St. Petersburg.

“Nessie” was recently sighted indulging in some of the goodies under the

Showcase for the spring, scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 18. This day long event

Heller Heads New Division of Foundation
Tampa Bay Metro recently featured USF St. Petersburg Professor William
Heller, PhD, in the October/November issue. He was appointed to head the
Community Foundation of Greater St. Petersburg, a new division of the Community
Foundation of Tampa Bay.

Pinellas Teacher Wins National Teaching Award
A national teaching magazine has named USF St. Petersburg graduate Carol Ayers
Dinsdale its Teacher of the Year. The publication 'Teaching
Exceptional Children,' called Dinsdale an exceptional hero in its Nov/Dec
2005 issue. Dinsdale teaches second and third grade special education
students Mount Vernon Elementary School in Pinellas County.

Michael Researches Kindergartens and Jimmy Carter
Some might say Deanna Michael, PhD, is obsessed with President Jimmy Carter. As
an Assistant Professor in the College of Education, Michael has been researching
Carter as far back as 1995, with a focus on Carter’s involvement in educational
policy.

Animal Behavior Draws National Interest
Science News, a weekly newsmagazine, is featuring the latest research
paper by assistant professor of biology Deby Cassill and colleagues. The
paper was recently published in the international journal Insectes
