Parking Garage Plan Detailed
The new parking garage under construction at the corner of 5th Avenue South and 3rd Avenue South will open on time at the beginning of June.

The garage is seven stories, including the top deck.  It will also house the USF St. Petersburg police, Barnes & Noble Booksellers and space for another retail store. There will be a total of 1,161 spaces available.

Preparations Conclude as Site Visit Nears
The site visit by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools takes place next week Tuesday, Feb. 7 - Thursday, Feb. 9. Ten volunteers from around the country will comprise the review team with each member specializing in a different area of evaluation.

Residence Hall One Stars in Student Recruitment
USF St. Petersburg’s very first residence hall is quickly approaching its grand opening in time for fall semester. Residence Hall One is estimated to have an annual impact on downtown St. Petersburg of about $2 million and is a milestone in the growth of USF St. Petersburg as it celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Last spring groups of new students talked to a marketing consultant about the factors that influenced their decision to enroll at USF St. Petersburg. Focus groups covered questions about recruiting materials, marketing messages and how they recruit their friends to campus.

Original Highwayman to Visit Campus
USF St. Petersburg continues the celebration of Black History Month with a visit from Highwayman painter, R. L. Lewis, Jr. Feb. 7 in the Campus Activities Center. The evening will begin with an art exhibit of Lewis’ work at 6 p.m. The lecture will run from 7-9 p.m. There will be a reception immediately following.

Writers Head To St. Pete Beach 
The USF Tampa 34th Annual Florida Suncoast Writer’s Conference will be at St. Pete Beach Feb. 9-11. Writer’s Digest magazine described the conference as one of the ‘Top 10 workshops/conferences for writers in the U.S."

All-Aboard for Board Membership Training
The USF Alumni Association is sponsoring All-Aboard: Training for Board Membership, a two day workshop offered Friday, February 24 and Friday, March 3 from 8:00 am-5:00 pm. The event is hosted by USF St. Petersburg and will be held in Davis Hall 130.

Poynter Library Fiction Contest

Poynter Library’s 20th Annual Bayboro Fiction Contest is underway. Please encourage your students to submit their unpublished short stories. Deadline for submission is April 7. First place will receive $250. Top stories may be published in the library’s publication "The Library Connection." For further information and contest rules please visit the library Web site.



Spring College Day Coming

USF St. Petersburg will host Spring College Day Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon. Prospective students will visit the campus for tours and look at Residence Hall One. Prospective students will attend information sessions on admission, financial aid, housing and USF St. Petersburg’s three colleges.

Departments are encouraged to reserve tables for the event. Any organizations or departments that are interested can contact Destiny Wilt in Prospective Student Services at 3-4802. Local radio station 93.3 WFLZ will broadcast live.
