Signs Signify Hall’s Completion
Near
Residence Hall One is getting ready
to make its debut. Furniture is ready for
distribution in apartments, while protective
plastic is coming off the windows. Painting is
nearly complete, and the landscaping is underway.
As student housing applications arrive in the
office of Errin Mills, director of Residence Life,
Residence Hall One undergoes its final
preparations for opening.

government president for the 2006-07 academic

As Honors Week concluded last
week students showcased brilliant work at the
Tomorrow’s Leaders Symposium. The Davis Lobby was
full of scholarly work and students eager to

Search Begins Again for
Multicultural Affairs
The search will
begin again for a Coordinator for Multicultural
Affairs. The first committee interviewed
three candidates, but Student Affairs decided to
change the job description to better encompass a
more diverse student population.

Life-sized Exhibit Showcases
Students' Talent Discover young artists and
witness their passion and feelings through their
life-size self portraits and books on display
Friday, April 28 from 7-10 p.m. Students from the
College of Arts and Sciences Intermediate Level
Drawing and Painting classes will be on hand for
this one-night only exhibit.

Aiding in Teacher
Leadership
USF St. Petersburg is sponsoring the
inaugural Teacher Leadership Institute May 19 and
20. The Institute is a two-day seminar which gives
teachers and administrators a chance to
participate in interactive sessions as they
explore the role of teachers as leaders.

To Drink or Not To
Drink
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of
death for American teenagers. Twenty-one
percent of young drivers involved in fatal crashes
had been drinking.
In 2000 6,131 young people died in motor
vehicle crashes. Twenty one percent of young
drivers involved in fatal crashes had been
drinking.

- A Human Resources workgroup will meet
Thursday, April 27 from 2-3 p.m. in TER 300.
During this time Ashok Dhingra, Ph.D., associate
regional vice chancellor for Administration and
Finance, will be introduced.
- Human Resources has created an online new
employee orientation program that is scheduled
to be up and running on the HR Web site May
19.

Learn to
Swim
If you have children between
the ages of 7 and 14, USF St. Petersburg can teach
them to swim. The Aquatics Center is hosting a
learn to swim clinic May 17, 18 and 19. The cost
is $48. Other water related activities will be
taught including: kayaking, snorkeling and beach
safety. For more information contact Teresa

Deck!
It's that time of year again
when USF St. Petersburg shows their softball
skills and pride in the 23rd Annual USF Softball
Event and Taste of Bull Country Saturday, May 13
at USF Tampa. It's a time to relax and mingle with
fellow USF employees. This year Marcus Berry,
coordinator of fitness and intramurels, will
coordinate the Wharf Rats, USFSP softball team, to
participate in the softball event. If you are
interested in joining the team. Contact Berry at
