to Work Out
The Fitness Center and the Waterfront
Office begin a new check-in procedure starting
Friday, Sept. 1.
It will require all users of the two

Soon
The three-digit prefix for the St.
Petersburg campus changed from 553 to 873 last
November. The 553 prefix will
expire Dec. 31.

Emergency Call Plan Wins
Grant USF St. Petersburg plans to
install an emergency notification system that can
call faculty, staff and students on their cell
phones, home phones and office numbers, depending
on the type of emergency.

USFSP Hobsons Team named Rookie
of the Year
The USF St. Petersburg Hobsons team,
which includes Frank Hohengarten, Ed.D., dean of
Enrollment Services; Kevin Coughlin, director of
Admissions and Records; John Husfield and
Erika Llenza, of University Relations, was
recognized as Rookie of the Year at the first U.S.
Enrollment Management Technology Connect users’
conference in Las Vegas in July.

Britni Tokotch was born and raised in
St. Petersburg. Her mother is an at-home daycare
provider and her father a firefighter.
After graduation from St. Pete High School’s IB
program, she decided she wanted to stay close to
home and major in education, so she enrolled at
USF St. Petersburg.

Love of Florida History Sparks
Book
USF St. Petersburg Florida Studies
student Michelle Hoffman says a paper she wrote
for a graduate seminar, War and Society, blossomed
into her new book.
St. Petersburg’s Maritime Service Training
Station was published this spring by Arcadia
Publishing. The book tells the story of St.
Petersburg’s history as a training site for the
U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II.

Charles Brown, Ph.D., has accepted the position of
Vice President for Student Affairs at Florida
Atlantic University in Boca Raton. FAU serves
26,000 students on six campuses; Brown will be
located on its main campus in Boca Raton.

Media Studies, spent 10 days in Shanghai, China

Inspection
Operations

have the fire alarms tested and inspected the week
