USFSP Police Receive Grant From
the St. Petersburg 2003 Forfeiture Program
On November 4, 2003, the St. Petersburg Police Department
announced that the USF St. Petersburg Police Department will
receive a $500.00 grant from their
Forfeiture Award Program to conduct a Crime Prevention Workshop and Seminar
at the St. Pete campus. This grant request was initiated and coordinated
by Officer John Spicuglia, USF’s Crime Prevention Officer, who is a police
veteran with considerable crime prevention experience, both at USF and the
Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
He has planned and coordinated this effort with SPPD and
the Bayboro Business Association. Working together they will
be implementing a community outreach workshop covering auto
/ bicycle theft prevention and personal safety issues. Additionally,
we will be giving away bike anti-theft devices and personal
safety whistles to the attendees.
The event will be held during March 2004. Flyers, posters,
e-news, and ‘Abbie-Grams’ will provide the exact
time, date, and location of this workshop. We strongly urge
all members of our community to attend this seminar and to
update and refresh their crime prevention and personal safety
knowledge.
