Subject: Planned Evacuation Drills for Campus Safety
Date: November 5, 2003

In the interest of better ensuring community safety, I have asked our Campus Police to coordinate and conduct a series of evacuation drills for each campus building. These drills will be coordinated with the Physical Plant, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), the St. Petersburg Fire Department and USFSP building supervisors.

The timetable for drills should range from mid-November through mid-December and will be planned to provide minimal disruption to class and exam schedules. Due to the critical nature of safety and security measures currently being taken nationwide and throughout our communities, a full evacuation of each building during these drills will be required. The USFSP Emergency Operations Plan directs that evacuation drills should be supervised and documented by our police officers.

I ask that each of you give your fullest cooperation to these exercises, with the understanding that they serve to improve our emergency response capability and general safety. Should you have any questions, please refer them to our Public Safety Director, Bob Siwik at (727) 553-414
