The purpose of crime alert bulletins is to inform campus citizens of incidents or activities occurring in the community that may pose a threat to their safety and security.
ATTENTION:
ARMED ROBBERY
OCCURRED OFF CAMPUS: 4TH AVENUE SOUTH & 4TH STREET SOUTH
On Wednesday, 08/29/07 at approximately 9:39 PM, a USF student was attempting to enter her residence, in the city of St. Petersburg near campus at approximately 4th Avenue and 4th Street South. Two African American males approached her from behind, displayed a chrome plated gun and placed it against her side while tugging on her laptop computer she was carrying. The victim began screaming which alerted her neighbor who came to see what was taking place. The subjects then fled east on foot from the scene without the laptop. Both the victim and the witness provided detailed descriptions of the suspects, and both subjects were subsequently taken into custody, and later positively identified. The handgun was also recovered and in the possession of one of the suspects at the time of his arrest. The incident was handled by the St. Petersburg Police Department, report #2007-52820.
