Additional Advice - University Police Services

  • Continue normal activities, but be watchful for suspicious activities. If reporting suspicious or criminal activity occurring at home or off campus dial 911. If reporting criminal or suspicious activity occurring on campus call 727-873-4140. Emergency Phones on campus will connect you directly to the Campus Police.

Examples of suspicious activities might include:
    • someone taking photographs of critical facilities,
    • asking detailed questions about physical security or
    • dressing inappropriately for weather conditions.

  • Learn what critical facilities are located in your community and report suspicious activities at or near those sites.
  • Closely monitor news reports and the Emergency Alert System on broadcast media.
  • Be patient with traffic delays and restrictions.
  • Take personal security precautions.
  • Avoid passing on unsubstantiated information and rumors.
  • Contact local officials to learn about specific hazards in your community.
  • Be familiar with local natural and man-made hazards in your community and what measures you can take to protect your family.
  • Keep recommended immunizations up-to-date.
  • Support the efforts of your local emergency responders, including firefighters, law enforcement and emergency medial services. Volunteer to assist and support community emergency response agencies.
