Duke Candidates

Class: Senior

Why would you like to be selected as Duke or Duchess?

I believe that because I am such a high visibility individual with vast amounts of involvement I could help with recruitment for student organizations, student government, undergraduate research, and student employment. I also believe that because I am such a unique person, if elected I would remove the barriers of traditionalism and perceived social isolation that student involvement and student leadership emanate. Lastly I would lore to represent all that University of South Florida, St. Petersburg has to offer.

Why would you like to be selected as Duke or Duchess?

I am a proud Bull; I have been involved with many organizations on campus and I am an active member of Student Government Association, IMANI council, and ALANA. I take pride in my school and its education quality as well as its athletics. I enjoy watching USF Bulls win games one after another, we deserve the spot light. I also like to show my friends that if you have a dream you should follow it; I came to USA 6 years ago without knowing any English, but now I am well known around campus.

Why would you like to be selected as Duke or Duchess?

There are a number of reasons why I feel that I would make an outstanding Homecoming Duke, but I believe the most important reason is that I truly understand the people that, together, make up USF St. Petersburg. As somebody that has spent his entire time at USFSP working to make the campus a better place, I feel that representing our campus to the larger USF community would be a tremendous honor and responsibility that I would be proud to take on. Additionally, as a third generation student at USF St. Petersburg, I bring a unique perspective to the table that somebody without deep roots as part of the family at USFSP does not have. I love our campus and our family at USFSP and do everything I possibly can to spread the word of our beautiful campus to just about everybody I speak to. Lastly, I see this as a chance to be an example of the USFSP Student Body to the rest of the USF system and I am very eager to show that we are a valuable part of the community that is Bulls Country.

Why would you like to be selected as Duke or Duchess?

I would like to become Duchess in order to be the pathway between the Tampa campus and here to make the Homecoming experience more memorable. I want to make sure that everyone at the St. Pete campus experiences homecoming XI to the fullest and make sure that everyone gets eXcIted about this great event. I want to help everyone come together and have school spirit. I would like to encourage every student whether a commuter or resident to bleed Green and Gold!

Why would you like to be selected as Duke or Duchess?

I should be selected for Duchess, because I am approachable, kind, warm, energized and outgoing yet laid-back and easy to talk to. I feel the individual I am represents one who is eager to serve their school, and represent it to the best of my ability. Besides being a SAFE team employee, I am also the elected student body secretary. Having taken part in many school activities and meeting so many great people I feel it would be a honor to have the chance to represent USF StPt as Duchess. GO Bulls!

Why would you like to be selected as Duke or Duchess?

I believe I would be a good Duchess because I am a Leader and not a follower. I am a genuinely good person. I am very school spirited!! And I can bring a lot to this School. I love to organize events. And I will make it my goal for this to be the best and most attended homecoming thus far!!

Why would you like to be selected as Duke or Duchess?

I believe I am a good representation of a student who has utilized both the academic and communal opportunities on campus. I look forward to participating in the homecoming team events, football game, and other spirited activities. I had looked forward to attending USF since I was a kid, when I attended the very first USF football game in Raymond James Stadium and the USF homecoming games during high school. I am proud to be a bull and being chosen by the students of this campus to be their Duchess would be an honor.

Why would you like to be selected as Duke or Duchess?

I think I should be selected as duchess because I would best represent student life at USF St. Petersburg. I am a senior and feel that I am known to other students on campus and have been very involved on campus since my freshman year. I have been on Harborside Activities Board for the last five years and was an orientation leader for two years. I have also worked at the Campus Activities Center for over two years. I have also been a part of numerous committees, such as search committees, the Recreation field and Student union Committees, which have helped shape this campus into what it is today. I feel that I am full of school spirit and have only missed one home football game in the last five years. I try to get other students involved on campus everyday, whether it is getting them to come to events, helping find a club or organization they want to join, or just answering general questions. Even though I have had to spend a lot of time in Tampa I have always felt that USFSP was where I belonged and fit in. I chose to live in the resident Hall its opening year so I could be even more involved. If I were to be chosen as duchess, I would do my best to represent the students and all of the things I love about USFSP.
