SAT Preparation Program

SAT Instruction

Announcement: The first SAT Preparation Class will begin on Saturday, October 11, 2008. For the 2008-2009 application, click on the link below.

USF St. Petersburg and the Academic Success Center are proud to offer an SAT Preparation Program to Pinellas County High School Students. The preparation course is designed to help students improve SAT scores for college admission.

The SAT Preparation Program is held on Saturdays for eight consecutive weeks. Each session meets from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and includes instruction in the three content areas of the SAT: math, writing and reading. Session dates are available below.

Reading and Writing Intruction
Instructors work with students to improve reading comprehension, timed writing, grammar and sentence structure, and vocabulary. Instructors also demonstrate techniques and approaches to common SAT questions.

Math Intruction
Instructors assist students with the four areas of math included in the SAT: Numbers and Operations, Algebra and Functions, Geometry and Measurement, and Statistics, Data and Probability. Additionally instructors focus on problem solving, testing strategies, and timed testing.

Course Fees, fee waivers, and course availability:

The fee for the 8 week course is $150 which includes a student subscription for the College Board's SAT On-line Course. Students who are eligible for free or reduced price lunch through their school district may participate in the course free of charge. For additional information about payment and waivers, see the last page of the application available through the link below.

Students are registered on a first come, first serve basis with a maximum of 25-30 students per session. A student will receive a place on the course list only after the completed application and payment is received or the fee waiver has been granted.
