About The Waterfront Pool -
The Waterfront swimming pool is a great place to visit if you are looking for a way get some sun, cool off, exercise, relax or just enjoy being outside. The pool is 100'x40' and heated allowing for a variety of programs throughout the year.

The pool is open 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., 7 days a week. To access the pool, you must have a valid USF ID card or membership.

Lifeguard Competition - USFSP Waterfront in combination with the American Red Cross will host a lifeguard competition between local facilities on August 10, 2008 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.

Water Fitness Workouts
USF St. Petersburg has been selected as the 2007 Top Aquatic Program in the State of Florida by the USWFA
Want to get in shape, lose weight, or just try something new? Come check out the new Water Fitness workouts at the pool.
All Water Fitness classes are taught by a certified United States Water Fitness Association Instructor. Each class has a specific focus, which allows you to pick and choose your own workout. So try a class or several classes! All classes will be held at the heated USF St. Petersburg Pool on the USF St. Petersburg campus.

Basic Water Rescue
The Basic Water Rescue class is taught by an American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor. This class will provide you with the information and skills necessary to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies. Participants who successfully complete the 4 hour course will receive Basic Water rescue certification through the American Red Cross. This class does NOT provide participants with all the information and skills needed to become certified as a lifeguard.
Basic Water Rescue target audiences includes: camp personnel and trip leaders, day care workers, school teachers, club and organization engaging in water activities, such as Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and individuals who work in or around the water. All classes will be held at the USF St. Petersburg Pool on the USF St. Petersburg campus.
Basic Water Rescue is open to USF Students, Faculty, Staff, USF Affiliates, Active USF Alumni Association members, and the General Public.
Home Pool Safety Presentations
The Home Pool Safety presentation is given by an American Red Cross certified instructor. The presentation provides pool owners with information and awareness to keep their family and guests in a safe aquatic environment. We are currently offering three separate presentations for Home Pool Safety. Each presentation is 30 minutes and will cover topics such as home pool safety checklists, reaching assists and what to do in the case of an aquatic emergency. All classes will be held at the USF St. Petersburg Waterfront facility on the USF St. Petersburg campus.
The presentations are open to USF Students, Faculty, Staff, USF Affiliates, and Active USF Alumni Association members.
Lifeguard Training
The Lifeguard Training course is taught by an American Red Cross certified Lifeguard Instructor Trainer. This class will prepare you with skills and knowledge necessary to keep patrons of aquatic facilities safe in and around the water. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive Lifeguard Training, CPR, AED, and First Aid certification issued through the American Red Cross. The course is approximately 30 hours and participants are required to attend all classes for certification.
Lifeguard Training courses are open to USF Students, Faculty, Staff, USF Affiliates, Active USF Alumni Association members, and the General Public.
Pool Rental Information
Pool Rentals are perfect for birthday parties, celebrations, or just for a good time.
To reserve the pool, a facility reservation request must be completed and payment received by the Waterfront Office. Reservations must be placed two weeks in advance. Facility reservation forms are provided at the Waterfront Office, per request.
Costs for Pool Rental (per 3 hours):
$10.00 for USF Students
$10.00 for Student Organizations
$25.00 for USF Faculty and Staff
$50.00 for Alumni Association Members
$50.00 for Affiliate Organizations
$50.00 for USF Departments
A $15.00/hour lifeguard fee applies to all pool rentals.

Swimming Lessons
All swim lessons in the Learn to Swim program are taught by an American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor (WSI). Various levels are provided:
Child Level 1 – Introduction to Water Skills
Child Level 2 – Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Child Level 3 – Stroke Development
Child Level 4 – Stroke Improvement
Child Level 5 – Stroke Refinement
Child Level 6 – Swimming and Skill Proficiency
Adult Level - Beginner & Intermediate
Private Lessons: all ages

Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
The Water Safety Instructor class is taught by an American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor Trainer. This class will prepare you to teach patrons how to swim and help them be safe when they are in, on or around the water. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive WSI certification issued through the American Red Cross. The course is approximately 30 hours and participants are required to attend all sessions for certification.
WSI courses are open to USF Students, Faculty, Staff, USF Affiliates, Active USF Alumni Association members, and the General Public.
Water Volleyball
We'll set up the net in the shallow end, you enjoy the sun and pool while playing volleyball.
Open play - Wednesdays 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
Water Volleyball is open to USF Students, Faculty, Staff, USF Affiliates, and Active USF Alumni Association members.
GuardStart (Lifeguarding) / Sailing Camp - This 10-day program combines the American Red Cross GuardStart program with an intense learn-to-sail program. Youth ages 12 - 14 are eligible to participate. The purpose of this camp is to provide a foundation of aquatic and leadership knowledge, attitudes and skills for both future successful completion of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses and learn-to-sail programs. Upon successful completion of this program, youth will be able to participate (free-of-charge) as junior counselors for our Summer Splash Water Camps for kids. Details and registration will be available online mid-April.
Summer Splash Water Camps for Kids - Get your children ready for a summer of fun by enrolling them in the USFSP Water Camps! The purpose of this camp is to help students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. The camps are conducted by certified American Red Cross staff. Children will enjoy snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, swimming lessons, and much more! Day trips to Weedon Island, Dali Museum, Albert Whitted Airport, Pier Aquarium, Ft. Desoto, Egmont Key, and TampaBay Watch. Details and registration will be available online mid-April.
