Service Learning Site Agreement
University of South Florida St. Petersburg
This understanding must be completed in full before the Service Learning opportunity can be offered to our students. A Service Learning project for University of South Florida St. Petersburg students is a significant learning and work opportunity. Students are evaluated and graded on their service, learning, and performance. Your site supervisor is considered part of our teaching team. We appreciate your interest in providing this opportunity for our students. The expectations as described below will help ensure a quality learning experience and project.
Community partners can expect:
• Students will do a mutually agreable project requiring
at least 15 hours of work. In addition students my enroll in a separate
Servie Learning course to expand upon this work and will make a time commitment
to the project that reflects their credit hour registration, specifically,
1 credit = 20 hrs. per semester, 2 credits = 40 hrs, 3 credits = 60 hrs,
4 credits = 80 hrs.
• The student and the site supervisor will develop a description
of the specific project
requirements for the approval of the USF course professor.
• Students will set appointments, commit to a work schedule,
and arrive promptly.
• Students will attend any training/orientation the partner
provides.
• Students will be responsive and cooperative.
• Students will offer constructive ideas and suggestions.
• Students will be receptive to constructive criticism.
• Students will provide the requested service on the described
project.
• USF course professors and USF Volunteer Services
Coordinator will be responsive in addressing agency
concerns.
Students can expect:
• They will work on the described project with the agency.
• The project can be completed in the estimated time (approximately
12 weeks).
• Partner will provide necessary information, orientation,
supplies, and ADA access if necessary.
• Partner site supervisor or specified alternate will be
available for direction and consultation.
• Partner will be receptive to student scheduling limitations
(class and work).
• Partner site supervisor will complete a written evaluation
by specified deadlines.
USF can expect:
• Partner will support the USF commitment to the principles
of Equal Education and Employment Opportunities

• Partner will contact USF for assistance in accommodating
students who have a disability.
• Agency will provide a copy of this agreement to the site
supervisors.
• Site supervisor will contact the student’s course professor
at the first sign of any problem or concern.
• Site supervisor will communicate the details of the student’s
project and schedule to all necessary staff at
the agency.
• Site supervisor or specified alternate will be available
at all necessary times for the student to complete
the project as detailed in the project description.
• Site supervisor will complete student evaluation by the
specified deadline.
