Welcome to the Cultural Context of Aging Home Page
One of the main purposes
of this web site is to provide support for the newly published text:
Winner
1997 Kalish Book Award
THE CULTURAL CONTEXT OF
AGING: WORLDWIDE PERSPECTIVES
2ND EDITION, 1997. Jay
Sokolovsky, editor. Greenwood Press.
| This web site is dedicated to promoting teaching and research of the
cross-cultural, qualitative and global study of aging. It will provide support materials
for the second edition of my text, The Cultural Context of Aging. This includes
on-line course syllabi from instructors around the country, extensive supplementary
resources for each section of the book and other numerous links for teachers, students and
researchers. Please feel free to click on my e-mail button and share your ideas about
teaching and research. To see how I begin my Aging, Culture and Experience class, click on
the Comparative Gerontology Quiz and see how you do.
Throughout the supplementary resources look for special features such as Newsflashes, Web Specials and Gerontological
Anthropology in Action. This last mentioned feature will have short descriptions or
articles about scholars who apply qualitative and cross-cultural approaches to important
issues for older adult life. |
