NEW FEATURE: I will begin to place here short video segments from my work in Mexico since 1998. The first one is a brief interview about old age. When you link to the site, scroll down the left menu to click on "arts and sciences," then underneath this, click on "anthropology." On the right, click on the appropriate kind of connection you have in your computer.                  www.netcast.usf.edu

However, when you look to the left at the projections of age structure of Mexico as a whole from 1997-2050, ones sees that some dramatic changes will occur over the next several decades. Please note that these age pyramids were produced from the U.S. Census Bureau web site: www.census.gov/ftp/pub/ipc/www/idbpyr.html

In December of 1998, my wife (also an anthropologist) and I returned to Amatango to participate as the ritual sponsors (compadres) of the 15th birthday celebration of the oldest granddaughter of Jeronimo Juarez and his wife Concha (see page 207 in the Cultural Context book). Unfortunately, Jeronimo had died almost two years ago and the oldest son, Jose took over as head of the household along with his mother. In the future I will try to include some video taken during this trip.
