    Refugees from the South East Asian states of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia have a particular connection to the United States, which unsuccessfully, through the Vietnam War, tried to maintain the colonial domain France abandoned in this region. Since the mid 1970s, Southeast Asian refugees and immigrants have come to many different areas of America. Here, social psychologist Barbara Yee uses a life span development approach to examine how elders fare in cultural spaces and communities dramatically different from those found in their homelands.
